Low Poly Mine - Underground Mine Kit
Also in Stylized Complete ($39.99).
A low-poly hard-rock mine whose machines work. 80 props in a muted, stylized look, their textures made in code: faceted rock walls, backs and floors, wet, bolted, ore-veined and drilled for the face, shotcrete and lagging, an adit's portal, timber and steel sets, narrow-gauge track with points that throw, ore carts that tip, a haulage whose loaded cart rolls down the drift, a battery loco, a shaft cage that comes down to the level, its gate and bell, a headframe and its winder, a chute, a jaw crusher and a conveyor, air doors, a fan and its duct, the power centre, drift lamps and the level's clutter, and 24 machines whose parts move when they're used. In GLB, FBX and OBJ, with a Godot addon and a level to walk.
Try it first: click Run asset pack above and walk No. 3 Level on the night shift, the power off: find the power centre's key in the refuge, put the section on, open the air doors and start the crusher, open the chute to send the loaded cart down the haulage and ring for the cage. WASD and the mouse, E uses things, F for a torch.
Goes with Low Poly Industrial Facility and the line's other kits: the same 2 m grid, 4 m storeys, look and textures, so the mine's surface can stand by the works.
What's inside
- Rock (18): floors plain, wet, spilt with ore and the shaft station's concrete, a grizzly over its pit; backs plain, bolted and lagged; walls of faceted rock plain, wet, ore-veined, bolted and drilled for the face, half a wall, shotcrete, lagging and their posts.
- Openings (4): a timber-framed doorway in the rock, a bulkhead plain and with its doorway, and the adit's portal, its opening 3 m wide.
- Support (4): a timber set for a 4 m drift and a narrow one, a steel set and a timber crib.
- Track (4): straight, a 3 m curve, points whose lever throws the blades, and a stop block.
- Carts (5): an ore cart empty and loaded, both tipping, the haulage, 8 m of track whose loaded cart runs down it, a flat car with its timber and a battery loco.
- The shaft (5): the cage in its guides, which comes down a storey, the gate that rises when it's in, the bell, a 12 m headframe whose sheaves turn and the winder whose drums do.
- The ore (5): a chute whose gate opens, a jaw crusher, a 4 m troughed conveyor, an ore bin and the crusher's control.
- The air (6): air doors in their bulkhead and their pull, an auxiliary fan, its duct straight and turning, and a brattice curtain to walk through.
- Power and services (11): the power centre and its key, the section switch, drift lamps and a lamp string, the lamp room's charging rack, a junction box, cable hangers, pipes, a tag board and the level's phone.
- Signs (5): the level's number, the escapeway, the shaft, the air doors and the PPE board. A made-up mine's, with no real company's marks.
- Clutter (13): ore and rock piles, timber and rail stacks, a jackleg drill, a pick, a shovel, a hard hat, a crib bench, a drum, a tool chest, self-rescuers and a pump.
- 24 working machines: the cage comes down and its gate rises, the haulage's cart rolls, the carts tip, the points throw, the chute opens, the crusher's jaw works and the conveyor runs, the air doors swing open, the fan, the headframe's sheaves, the winder and the pump turn, the power centre takes its key, and the lamps and the loco's lights come on with the power. The moving parts are separate objects, so your code can drive them too.
- A demo level to walk: the shaft station, a refuge and lamp room, a drift to the face with its haulage and chute, a crosscut through the air doors and the crusher's chamber.
- Seamless textures (the rock plain, wet, veined and drilled, shotcrete, lagging, the floors; 128 px a metre) as their own PNGs, for your own geometry, and an icon per prop.
- One 2048x2048 texture atlas for the whole pack, filtered with mipmaps, the occlusion baked into the vertex colours, real-world scale.
One script, every machine
Each prop that works carries the same script, set up for it: a switch, a button, a slot that takes an item, an item to pick up, or a machine that's powered. A machine is powered while everything it needs is live, so the drift's lamps need the section switch, the switch needs the power centre and the cage needs its bell. It says no when it's unpowered or wants an item, and its signals tell your game what happened.
Built on a grid
Everything snaps to a 2 m grid: a floor covers a 2 x 2 m cell, a wall is 2 m long and 0.25 m thick, its rock standing proud of the line by up to 0.2 m, and a drift is two cells wide under a 4 m back. Low Poly Industrial Facility's pieces snap to the same points.
Godot 4.3 to 4.7
An addon with a scene per prop: box colliders on every part (a door's move with it), an AnimationPlayer where it moves, machine.gd on every prop that works, one lit material, and a gallery with the level to walk. Tested on Godot 4.3 and 4.7, on Forward+, Mobile and Compatibility.
# bell, cage: the props in your level
cage.needs = [cage.get_path_to(bell)]
cage.switched.connect(func(on): print("cage coming ", on))
bell.use()
Other engines
GLB, FBX (animations as takes) and OBJ, one file per prop, with the atlas, and the whole pack in one .blend with the level as its own scene. The machines' script is Godot's; elsewhere the animations are there to play.
