A complete sci-fi pixel-art GUI and HUD, skinned and ready. Pick one of six neon themes in Godot's Project Settings and every Button, slider, tab, checkbox and window in your game takes it on. Every piece is also a 9-slice PNG with its borders listed, for Unity, GameMaker, Defold or any other engine.

Try it first: click Run asset pack above: the demo's ship HUD, systems window and cargo hold run in your browser, with a button to switch between the six neon themes.

What's inside

6 colour themes: cyan, amber, green, magenta, red and steel. Each is a Godot Theme resource that covers buttons (normal, hover, pressed, disabled), option buttons, checkboxes and radio buttons, sliders, segmented progress bars, tabs, text fields, panels with cut corners, windows with title bars, sunken cargo slots, corner-bracket HUD frames, tooltips, popup menus and scroll bars. The panels let a little of the game show through.

56 icons, 16x16, white with a dark outline so they take any colour: hull, shields, energy, batteries, fuel, medkit, ships, rockets, planets, satellites, asteroids, aliens, robots, an astronaut, chips, radar, keycards, terminals, credits, crystals, cargo, and the menu set (play, pause, sound, music, settings, save, delete, info, arrows, check, cross...). Buttons tint them to the theme by themselves, and there is a pre-tinted sheet for every theme.

A square pixel font with all of printable ASCII, upper and lower case, as a BMFont that Godot reads directly.

Hull, shield, energy and stamina bar fills in segments, 4 HUD reticles, and a mouse cursor at 1x to 4x.

  • Made at 1x for low-resolution games; scale it up by whole numbers and it stays crisp.
  • Demo project: a ship's HUD, a systems window, a cargo hold with tabs and a comms line over a starfield, with a button to switch between the six themes.
  • The same variation names as Pixel UI, our fantasy kit, so a game can switch between the two by switching its theme.

Compatibility

  • Godot 4.3 to 4.7, tested on both ends.
  • Forward+, Mobile and Compatibility renderers.
  • No scripts needed: the themes are plain resources.
  • Any other engine: plain PNGs, with the 9-slice borders in the README and in slices.json.

Install

Copy addons/pixel_ui_scifi/, set Default Texture Filter to Nearest, and choose a theme under GUI > Theme > Custom. addons/pixel_ui_scifi/README.md has the details.

Want to try it first? Pixel UI Sci-Fi Free has the cyan theme, 18 icons and the font.
