Also in the PSX Bundle (54 packs, $79.99) and the PSX Horror Bundle (20 packs, $29.99).

A modular PS1-style cathedral sunk into hell, for your retro shooter or horror game. 149 pieces that snap to a 2 m grid: a temple of pale limestone under ribbed vaults on clustered piers, lancets and rose windows of stained glass, its walls bloodied, burnt and cracked to the fire under them, and torn open on hell; hell's brick, rock, flesh, eyes, skulls and bones, lava and the bank down to it. Three skull keys and their locks, doors and altars, the gate of hell, a bridge that rises out of the lava, a crusher, a demon's head breathing fire; pews, an altar, an organ, a bell, a throne of bones and a heart that beats. Low-poly, point-filtered, in GLB, FBX and OBJ, with a Godot addon, a Unity package and a level to walk and solve.

Try it first: click Run asset pack above and walk into the cathedral: the red skull key is on the high altar. Its lock opens the way through the breach to the lava, the blue key opens the crypt of flesh, the gold the sanctum, where the three keys open the gate of hell. WASD and the mouse, E uses things, F for the torch, P for the PS1 shader. Or build a chapel with PSX Hell Temple Kit Free: 16 pieces from this kit, free under CC BY.

What's inside

  • Floors (14): the nave's limestone flags, plain, bloody and cracked to the fire, the chancel's black and white diamonds, a summoning circle across a cell, red and black marble, hell rock, flesh, bones; lava 0.4 m under the floor and the rock bank down to it, a fire grate, and a bridge over the lava.
  • Ceilings (5): a ribbed groin vault for a nave of them, a barrel vault over a passage, flat smoked stone, hell rock and flesh.
  • Walls (27): the temple's limestone on its plinth under a carved string course, plain, bloody, burnt, cracked and half; an upper storey's wall; a pointed doorway and arch, a lancet and an upper lancet of stained glass (a saint over the flames), a rose window round a burning eye, a saint's niche, and the breach, the wall torn open on hell's rock with flesh on its lips. Hell's brick, bloodied and burning with runes, flesh, a wall of eyes, of skulls and of bones, hell rock, a doorway, an arch and a cave mouth; posts for the three.
  • Pillars and stairs (8): a clustered pier, a 5 m nave pier and a wall shaft the vaults spring from, a broken pier, a flesh pillar and a skull pillar; temple and hell stairs a storey up.
  • Doors and keys (16): oak temple doors, three skull doors banded red, blue and gold, their skull locks whose eyes light, their skull keys and the altars they are given up on, the gate of hell in obsidian and bone that opens on the three, a bone gate and a secret wall.
  • Mechanisms (8): a skull lever, a bridge that rises out of the lava, a spiked crusher and a demon's head that breathes fire, and from PSX Dungeon Kit spikes, a blade pendulum, a flame vent and a pit.
  • The temple (36): pews whole and broken, the high altar under its black frontal, an organ, a pulpit, a lectern, a font of blood, a confessional, a bell that swings, a bone chandelier, a candelabra, floor candles, a tomb with its effigy, a headless saint, a reliquary, a hell banner; and from PSX Dungeon Kit and PSX Horror Props II torches, braziers, chandeliers, candles, votives, a shrine, a censer, a grimoire, a sarcophagus, a coffin, a gargoyle and a knight.
  • Hell (35): a demon statue, an obelisk of burning runes, a horned idol, a throne of bones, a heart that beats on its altar, flesh tendrils, a flesh cocoon, a skull totem, stakes, chains, a fire pit, a hell brazier, rocks, stalagmites, gore and blood; and from those kits a cage, a chained skeleton, an iron maiden, a gibbet, meat hooks, a ritual circle and dagger, a goat skull, a corpse under a sheet, bones and skulls.
  • 38 pieces that move: the doors and gates, the locks, the altars, the gate of hell, the lever, the bridge, the traps, the fires, the bell, the banner, the chains, the tendrils and the heart. The moving parts are separate objects, so your code can drive them too.
  • 18 working machines in the demo (PSX Puzzle Machinery's scripts): each lock opens its door while the key is in, the levers raise the bridge and open the bone gate, the altars keep their keys and the gate of hell opens on all three. Wired by what needs what.
  • A demo level of 340 pieces to walk and solve: a narthex, a nave two storeys high and its chancel, the breach and a lava cavern under a red sky, a crypt of flesh and a throne room, and the sanctum.
  • 26 seamless textures (limestone, flags, vaults and Retro FPS Textures' hell; 128 px a metre) as their own PNGs, for your own geometry, and an icon per piece.
  • One 2048x2048 texture atlas for the whole kit, shading baked into the vertex colours, real-world scale.

Made to go with our other kits

The kit is on PSX Hospital Kit's 2 m grid and 3 m storeys, like our other kits: their walls meet and their doors fit each other's doorways. Its hell is Retro FPS Textures' hell, so the textures you paint your own walls with match it, and PSX Dungeon Kit goes underneath. For what lives down there, PSX Monsters.

Godot 4.3 to 4.7

An addon with a scene per piece: box colliders on every part (a doorway's, the breach's and the cave mouth's leave the way through clear, a door's and a gate's move with them), an AnimationPlayer where it moves, machine.gd on every piece that works, one lit material so your lamps fall on it, and a gallery with the level to walk and solve. Tested on Godot 4.3 and 4.7.

# lock, door: the pieces in your level
door.needs = [door.get_path_to(lock)]

The full PS1 look

The kit is made for PSX Look, our PS1 shaders for Godot 4: wobbling vertices, warping textures, 240p, dither and 15-bit colour, over your level in one line. The captures on this page are the kit through it.

Unity 6.3

A .unitypackage with a prefab per piece (colliders, animation clips and Machine.cs on the machines), a PSX unlit shader for Built-in and URP, a demo scene and the level to solve.

Other engines

GLB, FBX (animations as takes) and OBJ, one file per piece, with the atlas, and the whole kit in one .blend with the demo level as its own scene.

Inspect before placing: the downloadable Godot gallery has a clear, fog-free catalog. Drag to turn, use the arrows to browse, or press A to see the whole collection. The lit level overview helps you see the layout; W enters the atmospheric walk with readable puzzle instructions.
