45 animated effects for PS1-style 3D games, as PNG sprite sheets: gunfire, bullet impacts, blood, fire, smoke, explosions, electricity, ambience and decals. Drawn in the PS1's own pixels: 15-bit colour with its dither, and hard cutout edges, so they sit in a low-poly scene instead of glowing over it. Two sets, 128 px and 64 px, each drawn at its size.

Try it first: click Run asset pack above: a dim concrete room in your browser, to shoot and to play all 45 in.

What's inside

  • Gunfire: a muzzle flash side on (crossed quads along the barrel), one seen from behind the gun, a shotgun's blast, and the smoke after.
  • Impacts: bullets hitting metal, concrete, wood, flesh, water and glass.
  • Blood: a spurt, a burst, a drip from the ceiling (loops), a pool spreading on the floor.
  • Fire: a candle, a torch, a burning barrel, a big fire (all loop), and a fire flaring up.
  • Smoke: a rising column, steam from a vent, grit falling from the ceiling, a creeping gas cloud (all loop), and a puff.
  • Explosions: a big one and a small one.
  • Electricity: sparks showering from a broken cable, an arc (both loop), a short circuit.
  • Ambience: flies, dust motes, a ghostly wisp, an item glint, a flickering bulb's halo, rain splashes, a water drip (all loop), and a pickup sparkle.
  • 8 decals: bullet holes in concrete, metal and wood, cracked glass, blood splat, spatter and smear, and a scorch mark.

  • Transparent PNG sheets, 8 frames a row, plus an effects.json with every frame size, count, fps and loop, and how to place it in 3D: the anchor, its height in metres, and whether it faces the camera, stands upright, lies on a floor or wall, or runs along a barrel. A GIF of each.

  • Godot 4 player included: PSXFX.spawn(self, "impact_concrete", hit.position), with the surface normal for a decal and the barrel's direction for a muzzle flash; finish() fades a loop out. It sets up billboarding, size, pixels and cutout from effects.json.
  • Import steps for Unity and any other engine in the README.
