A grid inventory for Godot 4 and Unity 6.3, free. Items take their footprint in cells: drag them, turn them a quarter, stack them, drop one on another to swap or to combine by your recipes, Shift+click them into a chest. A fantasy skin in HD and 16 items to fill it.

Want more?

Inventory Kit adds an equipment paper doll, the survival and sci-fi skins, pixel art of every skin and item, and 57 more items: 73 fantasy and survival weapons, armour, potions, food, ammo, herbs and keys. In Godot, install it over this one; in Unity, the paid and Free packages have separate folders and namespaces.

Both formats are included: the Godot project and addon, a native Unity 6.3 package with C# scripts, UGUI prefabs and its backpack-and-chest demo, and the PNG art for other engines.

Try it first: click Run asset pack above and play the Godot demo in your browser.

var bag := InventoryView.new()
bag.columns = 10
bag.rows = 6
add_child(bag)
bag.setup(ItemCatalogue.of("fantasy"))
bag.grid.add("health_potion", 3)
bag.item_used.connect(_use)

What's inside

  • The fantasy skin: carved wood and brass slots, highlight, panel, parchment tooltip and buttons, as nine-slice PNGs
  • 16 items, each its own PNG at its footprint, 96 px a cell: longsword, dagger, bow, arrows, shield, helmet, health and mana potions, bread, apple, herb, mushroom, coins, key, scroll and ruby, each with a name, kind, stack size, rarity and line of text
  • InventoryView: the grid on screen. While an item is held, its footprint lights where it would go, green to place, gold to stack, combine or swap, red where it can't. Drag, or click up and click down; R or a right click turns it; Ctrl+click takes half a stack; a right click uses it. Rarity tints, stack counts, hover tooltips
  • InventoryGrid: the rules alone, tested: add tops stacks up first and finds room, sort lays everything out again, combine by recipes, save and load as plain data
  • ItemCatalogue: the items and recipes from JSON; add your own items with your own art
  • Demo: a backpack and a chest, sort, take all

Compatibility

  • Godot 4.3 to 4.7, tested on both ends.
  • Forward+, Mobile and Compatibility renderers: desktop, mobile and web.
  • Unity 6.3 or later; the native package is checked in a fresh Built-in project.
  • Godot: pure GDScript, no plugins to enable and no GDExtension.
  • Unity: C# source on UGUI (com.unity.ugui), with Unity's built-in font; no TMP resource import.
  • The PNGs work in any engine.
